Welcome to My Blog, Eat & Travel. With me Wie Chen, i'm from Medan City (Capital of North Sumatra province in Indonesia). Medan is the largest Indonesian city outside Java and the fourth largest city in Indonesia behind Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung (three of them is on Java). Medan City has been dubbed by the Dutch as Parijs van Soematra because of its resemblance to Paris during the era of the Dutch ocupation. While Lamudi a worldwide real estate portal categorized Medan City as on of the six city in Asia which has many old building such as :

* Medan Capitol Building (Balai Kota Medan - shown in picture)

* Tjong A Fie Mansion

* Maimun Palace

* Tip Top Restaurant

* Kantor Pos (Post Office) & Lapangan Merdeka

* Masjid Raya Medan (Medan Great Mosque)

* etc

Medan City is a growing Metropolitan  city, rich of its history and culture. To visit Medan City, you have 3 alternative by land (inter city buses), sea (Belawan port), and air (Kuala Namu International Airport).

Medan City itself have many local transportation such as :

* Becak / Becak Dayung (Trishaw)

* Becak Mesin (Machine Trishaw)

* Damri bus and Angkot (public transportation)

* Taxi

* Ojek (Indonesian Motorcycles - only in some places & city)

* and also Private Car Service.

and the price is varies depends on what transportation you choose, the place you're going, and also the negociation :)

Besides famous for its history, Medan City has varies of tribes and culture. Surrounded by Mountains, Seas and Fertile land makes Medan City one of the city with abundant crops, including the well-known Indonesian spices from the time of colonization until now, the modern era. Medan City itself also well-known as Culinary Heaven. Many tourist comes to Medan City not only for traveling but also to enjoy the taste of Medan's food.
